Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 10, 2026
Patrimony stores your estate records in your own Google Drive. We are not a bank, law firm, or estate executor — we are a software tool. The Service depends entirely on Google's infrastructure. Please read Sections 4 and 5 carefully before using the Service.
Not Legal Advice
Patrimony is a secure data storage utility. It does not constitute a legally binding will or estate plan.
Limitation of Liability
We are not liable for lost assets, family disputes, or damages resulting from the use or failure of the Smart Release system.
User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for ensuring your Google Drive has sufficient storage and remains in good standing.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Patrimony ("the Service"), operated by Patrimony, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Patrimony is a digital estate orchestration tool that allows you to:
- Organize records of financial accounts, properties, insurance policies, and digital assets
- Store those records in your personal Google Drive, using isolated application folders
- Designate trusted nominees who may access those records under specific, pre-configured inactivity conditions
- Configure an automated Dead Man's Switch that initiates the access protocol if you remain inactive beyond your chosen threshold
Patrimony is a software orchestration layer, not a cloud storage provider. We do not host your data. Your data resides in your Google Account.
3. Eligibility
To use the Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a valid Google Account in good standing
- Have the right to organize and route access to the assets you register
- Agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy
4. Dependency on Google Services — Critical Disclosure
THE SERVICE IS ENTIRELY DEPENDENT ON GOOGLE'S INFRASTRUCTURE.
This includes Google Drive API, Google Sheets API, Google OAuth 2.0, Firebase Authentication, and Firebase Firestore.
- Google Account Standing: If your Google Account is suspended, terminated, flagged, or limited by Google for any reason, Patrimony cannot access your vault.
- Google API Changes: We cannot guarantee continuity of service if Google removes or significantly alters the APIs we depend on.
- Google Outages: Google infrastructure outages may cause temporary unavailability of the Service.
- Your Continued Drive Access: The continuation of your access to your vault data is governed by Google's Terms of Service.
5. Patrimony Is Not a Legal, Financial, or Fiduciary Service
Patrimony is a technology platform. We are not a law firm, financial institution, estate executor, or official document authentication service.
The Service does not replace a legally binding Last Will and Testament or Power of Attorney. Digital access to records is not the same as legal transfer of ownership.
6. Dead Man's Switch — Limitations
- Email Delivery Is Not Guaranteed: Email may be filtered as spam. Add noreply@patrimony.info to your contacts.
- Nominee Notification Is Not Guaranteed: We strongly recommend informing your nominees verbally that you use Patrimony.
- Nominee Authentication: Nominees must have a valid, working Google Account to access the portal.
- False Triggers: We cannot guarantee that the trigger will never fire unexpectedly or fail to fire as intended under all circumstances.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You agree not to register records of assets obtained through illegal activity, upload unlawful content, attempt to access another user's vault, or impersonate another person.
8. Account Deletion and Irreversibility
Deleting your account initiates the Clean Break Protocol. All account data is permanently deleted, Google Drive access is revoked, nominee access tokens are invalidated, and no recovery is possible.
9. Intellectual Property
All software, design, and content on the Patrimony platform (excluding your own user-submitted data) is the intellectual property of Patrimony.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Patrimony shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, losses arising from Google's actions, failure of the Dead Man's Switch, or reliance on the Service as a substitute for proper legal estate planning.
Our aggregate liability shall not exceed the greater of the amount paid by you during the previous 12 months, or INR 100.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR MEET YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Patrimony from any claim arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith written negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
